soft

soft is a product line conceived of the desire to dynamically shape and redefine open space into more intimate and ephemeral surroundings, in a flexible and temporal way. Utilizing flexible honeycomb structures that can expand, contract, and flex to form a sculptural space or seating topography, soft is an evolutionary, materials research driven exploration of possibilities. The elements of the soft collection have been designed to be used and re-used in a flexible and dynamic way, replacing the need for more costly and inflexible alternatives for partitioning and arranging space. Despite being made from simple lightweight sheets of humble materials such as paper and non-woven textiles, the honeycomb geometry, lends these structures high strength and flexible resilience, with an economy of material resource.


softwall

softwall is a freestanding partition that can be expanded and contracted to freely shape intimate space within larger open space. softwalls can be fanned open to just over 5000mm (16.5’) in length, or smaller dimensions as desired, due to the flexible nature of the structure. For efficient storage and shipping, softwall can be compressed in “length” to a remarkably small dimension of less than 50mm (2”) and then folded in half like a blanket! softwall is available in standard and custom heights of up to 3050mm (10’) tall. softwalls are available in paper and textile variations, in translucent white and opaque black. The cellular honeycomb structure of softwall also serves to dampen sound. Recognized for its poetic and pragmatic beauty and innovation, softwall has been acquired by the MoMA in New York for their permanent collection. molo was selected as a winner of the International INDEX:Award 2005, hosted by Denmark, for softwall and the evolving concepts of soft.

softblocks

softblocks are a modular system of versatile honeycomb building blocks that can be used alone, or stacked and joined together using magnetic connectors to create partitions and structures of varying heights and shapes, complete with functional surfaces for display, or window like openings. softblocks can bear a useful amount of weight, and can be used to dynamically set up engaging and sculptural partitions, bars, serving tables, display areas, and the like.

softseating

softseating is a series of seating elements in various materials and natural colours, all utilizing a honeycomb structure to fan open into stools, benches, and loungers.  Each element of softseating has magnetic end panels, allowing an element to connect to itself, forming a cylindrical stool or low table, or to connect to other elements of the same size in series, creating long winding benches and endless possibilities for seating topographies. The beauty of these pieces is that they are sculptural abstract forms, each made from a single material, that can be used creatively and interchangeably as seating or low tables.

softlight

softlight is a series of expandable honeycomb light fixtures with an atmospheric quality of light. Individual softlights can be used alone or in clusters to create an intimate quality of space.
